Legal Jobs and Law Jobs

As the saying goes, "ignorance of the law excuses no one." It is for this reason that everybody needs a professional who may defend and protect their rights before the court of law. Just like in medical services, expertise is crucial for legal jobs. However, if you're interested in building your future by breaking into legal services, there are various fields of law you first have to consider.

Here's a guide to understanding the various jobs under the said category:

1. Barrister Jobs.
Barristers specialize in certain advocacy and are granted rights of audience in every court. Among the law areas where barristers may specialize are chancery law, common law, criminal law, personal injury law, and housing law. They prepare and carry on court cases, examination and cross-examinations, negotiate settlements, and the like. They can either be employed or self-employed.

2. Building and Construction Law Jobs.
These jobs cover every aspect of the building and construction industries. The job of these consultants of is basically to provide legal assistance on matters and issues concerning the said businesses. They may settle disputes or simply provide advices or consultations.

3. Commercial Law Jobs.
Commercial law attorneys offer legal counseling, negotiations, and court representations on issues concerning commercial or business issues like contracts, patents, CBAs, government regulations, and the like. The primary concern of commercial law practitioners is to safeguard their clients' rights. Candidates must have attended and graduated in a law school and passed a bar exam.

4. Conveyancing Jobs.
Conveyancers or property lawyers are the ones who oversee the legal matters concerning property buy and sell. They also act as liaison officers for clients who want to qualify for a mortgage. Other duties include paying stamp duties, checking and drafting contracts, and the like. Countries like England usually require a candidate to pass The Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC) training and examinations.

5. Family Law Jobs.
Family law practitioners or attorneys oversee family issues like divorce, adoption, custody or guardianship issues, wills or estates, trust funds and annuities, and the like. They may also serve as mediators to settle family disputes or issues outside the court. They provide legal advice and services to clients who have problems with their respective families. They also represent their clients and attend court hearings.

6. Immigration Law Jobs.
Immigration lawyers and consultants handle all facets of immigration law including processing of visas or green cards, settling issues on adoption or asylum, citizenship, naturalization, and the like. A solid work experience on immigration law is a major requirement.

7. Legal Clerk Jobs.
A legal clerk handles all the usual legal clerical duties such as maintenance and updating of legal files, support to legal assistants, sending of important documents to contacts, phone reception, memorandum preparation, and the like. An applicant is usually required to have at least a high school diploma, a prior work experience in a legal department handling clerical duties, and a considerable working knowledge of legal terminologies.

8. Property Law Jobs.
A property law practitioner handles commercial property dealings, property cases, retail and commercial leasing, arrangements concerning joint venture and developments, and the like. Candidates must have a thorough grasp of property law.

9. Patent Law Jobs.
Attorneys, consultants, and associates handling patent law are tasked to do litigation and counseling on issues concerning intellectual property and patents. They can also develop patent strategies and manage the patent portfolio of companies or organizations. A tight grasp of patent law and a relative working experience are some of the most essential requirements for the position.

10. Personal Injury Law Jobs.
Personal injury lawyers represents clients who are victims of car, job, motorcycle, trucks, and other personal injuries. They're particularly responsible for handling the cases of employees who got injured while performing their work and are seeking financial assistance from their employers. Like any other law jobs, a solid experience in this particular field is a major requirement.

11. Solicitors Jobs.

Among the most common solicitor jobs are property, IP litigation, agricultural litigation, criminal litigation, claims, finance, principle, and civil litigation solicitors. 12. Tax Law Jobs.
Tax law attorneys, consultants, and analysts are primarily concerned in making sure that their clients comply to the existing tax laws of the government. They also prepare income tax returns and reports, address tax issues or concerns, formulate tax strategies, recommends measures to address tax concerns, and the like. Those with Accountancy or Law degrees are highly needed for these jobs.
